Steel Pan Resources
May 26, 2008 on 9:23 pm | In Steel Pan | No CommentsToday I was searching for pan information to put together in the weekly newsletter. Pan has definitely reached all corners of the globe and still has amazing growth potential. So now I wonder, who exactly is the pan media and the persons responsible for getting additional information out there? I have compiled a small list of websites I found to be valuable resources in the fledgling pan industry. Many more websites are out there, but their information seems somewhat outdated; I mean its 2008 people - let us get with it.
- Pan on the Net is quite possibly the most diverse and in-depth coverage of the pan industry especially in the NY scene.
- The Pan Page is another great website resource that covers the pan industry all across the globe.
- Pan-Jumbie.com is another interesting website.
Publishing a Newsletter
May 20, 2008 on 3:16 pm | In Music etc. | No CommentsToday I finally completed the process of putting together a newsletter. Talk about complex. It seems that there is more to mass-emailing than simply just putting together a post and hit send. Its against the law (according to the CAN-SPAM Act 2003) - Why should we know about that? Really?
After putting everything together and sending out the email, it still did not go immediately because it had to be reviewed by the company we are using (IContact.com). They have some very useful features, but to review my email message to either approve or deny seemed a bit much. Nonetheless, the email went out, and it wasnt too long after that we received emails that links were not working…so a second email message had to be spun up and mailed out with the working links. So its all done, if you guys are reading this blog and have not yet subscribed to our mailing list, you can do so here.

Steel N’ Praise Vol. 2
May 10, 2008 on 12:16 am | In Music etc. | No CommentsSteel N’ Praise Volume 2, an instrumental CD featuring HighLite Vibes artitstes and producers has been launched. This CD features music taken from the Hymnal 1982 and the LEVAS and showcases the arranging creativity of the in-house producers here at HighLite Vibes. Many of the “old favorites” (hymns) have been ignited with a new-found passion and vibe in a very hot Caribbean style. Check out samples and get it online here
