It all sounds good. I would like to hear more compositions with the orchestra and the full steel band. So more complex. I know that you can do it.

ah, OK, i see now, HighLiteVibes u are right. I was referring to steelbands having performed complex classical works arranged for pan. I only know of one or two instances where pan has actually been combined on stage with symphonic instruments in actual performance.

I agree with CSKK. The "canned" synthesized sound can not compare with the real authentic sound of a steel orchestra. However, the purpose of the .wav file is to give an idea of the arrangement and sound. Maybe we can hear this arrangement live one day...

Secondly, with reference to CSKK's second response - I really had no idea that symphonic orchestras and steel orchestras have been performing together. When I say together I mean the steelband is part of the symphonic orchestra just as there are strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion...

"maybe one day soon, we will actually be able to hear similar pieces performed live by symphonic orchestras and steel orchestras."

I don't understand this sentence...."similar pieces", as well as many many others, many with even greater complexity of arrangement - have been being performd live for the past 40 years, by live steel orchestras - ( ???? )

I like the pretty arrangement but i REALLY REALLY dislike the 'canned' synthesized sound....... can't come close to the sound of the real thing. Not even on the scale - in fact not even in the same ROOM with the scale, of acoustic pan.

I am a participant in the pan world during the off season and the pan season, I will give credit to adlib because they did their thing no doubt about that but music wise sonatas had an overall better arrangement. adlib had a hype song that was well developed but at some points they strayed away for the story within the music sonatas was consistent with the song and came hard. the first place could have went either way between sonatas and adlib but caym should not have been in between not even in the top three. Casym bust at the end of their song being of the fact they put the ending on that morning and in the middle of the song the rhythm section stopped playing.Additionally theres is no way casym was clearer than sonatas or adlib nor did they sound better to beat sonatas or even come close to adlib. Theres is no doubt theres is something fishy going on in the judging system most likely because of politics but it needs to change. Harmony is an up coming bad who was robbed along with pantonics who was able to have the best version of musical vengence and they did it in only two weeks. I do agree the score sheets need to open to the public along with the comment so we can see wat the judges really think about the bands.

For the last few years, CASYM always seem to finish among the top three - either a remarkable feat or something very fraudulent in the judging. But until proven, I will have to take the side of "a remarkable feat." I remember similar "statements" being made about Pantonics a few years back when they dominated the competition. One thing I would suggest is that each judge make their score sheet (and notes) available to the public. This way we can really see how they view arrangements, tonality, overall presentation etc.

I just find it a little strange that every year come panorama results, Casym always ends up in the top 3 amidst controversy. I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but I felt the real competition this year was solely between Sonatas and ADLIB, especially when a Casym player even said after they finished playing, "We lost, at most we're getting 5th place."
